Good morning Man Utd fans
Manchester United welcome Aston Villa at Old Trafford in the third round of the FA Cup tonight.
United captain Harry Maguire is a doubt as he is still dealing with an injury and has yet to start training again.
Victor Lindelof, on the other hand, returned to training on Thursday after testing positive for coronavirus, but Paul Pogba is still sidelined with a thigh injury.
Eric Bailly and Hannibal Mejbri are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
On the other hand, Villa manager Steven Gerrard said he will launch a strong squad in the match against United.
Tyrone Mings and Ollie Watkins are likely to return after losing to Brentford last week.
However, Kortney Hause is facing a late fitness call after reporting some “tight” at Brentford.
And former United captain Ashley Young will be examined after a broken toe.
Signing star Philippe Coutinho is unlikely to come into play after agreeing to join on loan from Barcelona.
Coutinho’s debut is likely to take place in the match against MU in the Premier League on January 15.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo has held talks with his agent Jorge Mendes about his future at Old Trafford.
Sunsport understands that Ronaldo is frustrated with United’s form.
The Portuguese captain was also disillusioned with the tactics and playing style of interim coach Ralf Rangnick of the Red Devils.
A source close to Ronaldo revealed: “Cristiano is very interested in what is happening at United. The team is receiving a lot of criticism and he knows he is considered one of the leaders.
“There are quite a few problems and Cristiano is feeling pressured and very stressed by the situation.
“He desperately wants his move to United to be successful, but he is starting to realize that winning titles with the current situation can be a real struggle.
“Jorge went to see him and they spent some time chatting about how things were going, what they thought the problems were, how they could be solved and what the solution might be. Nothing is excluded”.
And MU star Pogba will return to full training next week after being given the green light by the club’s doctors.
The star midfielder has been sidelined for two months after sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty with France.
SunSport understands the 28-year-old went for a light run with his air conditioner at Carrington last week.
Pogba has impressed Rangnick with his attitude and it is understood he has targeted a return to the first team later this month.
Finally, United star Bruno Fernandes has released a rumor regarding his move to Barcelona.
Fernandes becomes the Red Devil’s latest man to quash rumors of unhappiness at Old Trafford.
Portuguese newspaper SPORT TV claims that the player has been invited to Barca.
But the Portugal international responded on Instagram: “And I think the new year just started a few days ago, but we’re already April 1! Or is this again just bad press?”
