Bruno’s message to Brighton fans after Chelsea move

Heartbroken Bruno has compared his shock departure from Albion to leaving home as a teenager.

The former Seagulls skipper and coach posted a message on social media to say goodbye as he heads to Chelsea.

He compares the decision to move to Stamford Bridge to the one he made when he left his small hometown in Catalonia for Barcelona’s Espanyol academy.

His message was printed against the background of a photo taken by Simon Dack during the recognition round following Albion’s 3-2 win over Manchester City at the end of the 2020-21 season.

Bruno writes: “I don’t know where to start, I don’t know what to say.

“I’m heartbroken, probably like some of you. I feel the same way I did when I left home at 14 to pursue my dream. Sure about my decision but broken inside.

“What you; players, Amex staff, training ground staff, FANs and the community made it memorable for me. THANK YOU.

“What these 10 years have shown me is that football really lasts more than 90 minutes. Of all the unimportant things, football is the most important.

“I put my heart and soul into this club and would like to believe I helped leave Brighton and Hove Albion in a better place when I arrived.

“For us there are no goodbyes. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.

“Your friend.
