Bucks Fizz singer Jay Aston was in tears on Loose Women today as she revealed her daughter had a 50 per cent chance of surviving meningitis.
The 60-year-old appeared on the ITV show today as she reminisced about her daughter Josie’s terrifying rapid deterioration.
Joining panelists Kaye Adams, Jane Moore, Katie Piper and Frankie Bridge, she revealed that her daughter was shaken after starting to feel unwell after sitting in the garden.
Jay rushed home to watch his daughter, who was suffering from a high temperature, sore neck and joint pain.
“Fortunately she was still in my bed so I could keep an eye on her,” she said. “If she slept in her own bed, I don’t think I would have a daughter…”
She paused, trying to continue as she began to cry, and took a sip of water.
“Listen, take all the time you need Jay,” Kaye reassured her. “This is so new to you. It’s been less than four weeks since this happened and Josie is still in the hospital, luckily things seem to be coming. But my god, you’re already on the brink of death. deep.”
Jay says, “At three in the morning, I turned on all the lights and said, ‘Look at you.’ Because, strangely enough, my husband got meningitis 19 years ago and she’s the loser of my life. me when I nearly lost my husband. So I knew what to look for-“
When she started to cry, she apologized but continued: “I saw the rash on her arm and it was four little brown spots and so I knew what it was.
Jay said that, at the time, she knew what it was and knew she had to deal with the problem herself after the ambulance they had called hours ago failed to arrive.

When Josie was hospitalized, her internal organs began to fail and she went into a coma, with doctors giving her only a 50% chance of survival.
Speaking to the Mirror of the terrifying ordeal, she said: “I’ve been sitting by her bed night after night waiting for her to make it through. I can’t believe this is her fate, because she is. She’s an outgoing, kind person – full of goodwill and full of life, it just feels so cruel.
“I prayed a lot. She is my world – we are strangely close. I just can’t imagine being without her.”
