Busking on Grafton Street: Glen Hansard runs the annual Christmas Eve Busk charity

At the top of Grafton Street, the annual Christmas Eve Busk charity has started in earnest.

his year frame Frontman Glen Hansard and his band of merry carol singers have set up a stage in front of Dublin’s famous Gaiety Theatre.

A huge crowd has gathered over the past hour for one of the capital’s most popular festive events, while also raising much-needed donations for the Simon Community.

It’s a blustery evening downtown, but the weather did little to dampen the crowd’s spirits as they sang along Aslan Hit ‘Mad World.

Hansard unplugged while singing “Falling Slowly,” his Oscar-winning song from the film Once.

The group closed with a performance of the Auld Triangle, which featured Imelda May.
