A quaint six-bedroom house in a quiet village has a very strange – and rather awkward – surprise in store in the master bedroom.

The converted barn is on the market for £815,000 and oozes character. It features the original oak beams, a farmhouse kitchen and three reception rooms.

There is also large grounds, parking for four cars and a heated swimming pool.

However, home seekers for the property – which dates back to 1755 – were shocked when they visited the “integrated bath” in the master bedroom.

Hopeful owners have slammed the property – because there’s a toilet in the master bedroom.

Another angle of the bedroom reveals an odd feature

The loo and the free-standing bath and a sink are fully visible without a partition.

That means the bizarre setup doesn’t offer privacy for someone following a call of nature or taking a dip.

One prospective buyer joked, “I saw this house the other day and the bathroom, well, it traumatized me.”

Although the property retains the original oak beams, the loo is fully visible – with no partition

A second added: “Yikes.”

The pad, in the village of Cottenham, near Cambridge, is promoted by OnTheMarket, listing: “This stunning barn conversion offers an imposing yet private setting in an incredibly desirable location.

“Plots of this style and size are incredibly rare in the area and near Cambridge.

Hopeful buyers certainly did not expect this strange surprise when looking at the floor plans

“This unique six bedroom barn conversion offers an abundance of versatile accommodation in over 3,759 square feet and with the unusual but useful fact that it does not remain a listed building.

“We believe it dates from 1755.”

The Pad – near Cambridge – is being sold by Prestige Property Group

Regarding the kitchen, it adds: “It is fitted with matching wall and base cabinets, range-style cooker, solid wood worktops, valance/farmhouse sink.

“Detached mobile island and a back door leading out into the garden and what could be an excellent and very useful breakfast terrace when vacated.

The description of the pool states: “It was designed to be low maintenance.

The quaint 1755 barn conversion is on the market for £815,000

“It has a water flow that can be remotely adjusted to suit the speed of most swimmers, perfect for health and fitness.”

“There is also space for additional fitness equipment. An excellent leisure area for family and when friends come to visit.”

However, when it comes to mentioning the odd bathroom-bedroom combo, the listing oddly only says, “Large master bedroom suite with integrated en-suite/free-standing bath/toilet and built-in wardrobes.”
