Buzz Lightyear’s stuffed cat pal “Sox” was sent into orbit before crash-landing in the UK

Sox successfully parachuted back to earth, landing in the Lincolnshire town of Spalding after a successful journey to ‘Infinity and Beyond’.

A stuffed animal from the new Lightyear movie has been launched into space from the Peak District.

The toy version of Buzz Lightyear’s robotic cat, Sox, traveled above Earth’s atmosphere before returning to land in Lincolnshire.

The stunt was performed by Showcase Cinemas to celebrate the release of Disney and Pixar’s new “Lightyear” film. reported the Manchester Evening News.

Sox was transported into space in what appeared to be some sort of powered balloon and was flying at speeds of up to 250 miles per hour as it broke through Earth’s atmosphere.

Incredible images showed the toy hovering some 130,000 feet above the ground in crisp 4K resolution. After the flight Sox successful parachuted back to earth and landed in the Lincolnshire town of Spalding.

The Toy Story spin-off film Lightyear was released on June 17th and features a star cast including Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear, James Brolin as Emperor Zurg and Bill Hader as Featheringhamstan.

Animator and narrator Peter Sohn plays Sox, while British astronaut Tim Peake also stars as himself.

Showcase Cinemas UK General Manager Mark Barlow said: “The new light year The film promises to be a favorite this year following the iconic character dearly loved by families around the world.

“To celebrate this we wanted to do something ‘out of this world’ so what better way than to send the toy version of Sox to infinity and beyond? We can’t wait to welcome visitors to our theaters to see one of our favorite animated characters of all time back on the big screen, in his very own origin story.”
