Call for information following a knife robbery in Burgess Hill

POLICE are appealing for information after a second knifepoint robbery at a store.

The robbery took place at around 11.05pm on Tuesday 12 July at the Co-op store on Terracotta Lane, Burgess Hill.

It’s the second incident in this business in three weeks.

After the store closed, two store associates were approached by a man wearing a black jacket with silver patches on the back and a hoodie.

He is described as white, believed to be in his 30s, approximately 6 feet tall, of slim build, had a full face covering, and was said to have spoken with a northern accent, but was then heard to sound southern.

The man who confronted the two store employees then threatened them with a knife and demanded that he be taken to the safe.

After collecting the contents of the safe, he made his way to the back of the store and dumped and dumped items in a nearby bush.

Detective Constable Lucy Burningham said: “This is a very serious incident and the second to occur in this business in three weeks.

“We believe the suspect is the same in both cases. We’d appreciate if anyone has any information that could help us with our investigation. You could report it online or call 101 and serial number 1751 dated 07/12. specify.”
