Call of Duty makes big changes that will wreak havoc on fans

CALL of Duty looks set for MISS to release its main annual release next year, for the first time in nearly two decades.

Activision owners are said to be skipping 2023 due to the recent release’s poor performance in the franchise, likely due to Vanguard.

Sales of the title were much lower than in previous entries.

Based on BloombergSome bosses at the company think new versions are being introduced “too fast”.

However, Call of Duty’s new free online spin-off will continue as planned to fill the void.

Techies from Treyarch, the Activision-owned company that is developing the delayed game, will instead be helping with the free project.

Fans have been enjoying a premium slot from the game giant’s massive franchise every year since 2005.

There are concerns that Call of Duty: Vanguard may have been affected by the hugely successful free-to-play version of Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020.

Vanguard’s revenue is down 36% compared to its predecessor Black Ops Cold War.

Despite this, the title still tops the best-selling game chart.

It all comes at a pivotal time for Activision, which was acquired by Microsoft for a staggering $68.7 billion / £50.5 billion in January.

The acquisition is the tech giant’s biggest purchase to date, and arguably the biggest game acquisition ever.

Activision Blizzard also recently came under the spotlight for allegations of sexual harassment.

The company was sued by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) last July.

It was accused of promoting a culture of “persistent sexual harassment”.

Since then, many employees have made statements about sexual harassment.

Call of Duty cheat – what will get you banned?

Here’s what you need to know…

  • There are many ways to cheat in Call of Duty
  • Probably the most popular hack is aimbot – a piece of software that aims and targets enemies automatically for you.
  • Activision also explicitly prohibits the use of wallhacks, which alter the properties of the wall
  • For example, wallhacking software can let you see enemies through walls
  • Typically using a glitch to get outside the normal bounds of the map is also considered cheating
  • All in all, it’s a use case of common sense: don’t do anything to your advantage that the developers didn’t intend
  • Also, cheating in a game as complex as Call of Duty can be hard – so if you’re cheating, it’s unlikely to be an accident.
