CALL of Duty has created a new “God Mode” damage shield that allows you to stay away from hackers.
It stops hackers from being able to kill you in a gunfight – giving you limitless possibilities to take them down.
The new feature is part of Activision’s high-tech Ricochet anti-cheat system, which debuted with Pacific Warzone’s Caldera mode late last year.
Part of this Ricochet system is the new Damage Shield.
This Damage Shield can identify when crooks are using a hacked system to attack you.
And it will prevent hackers from being able to kill you.
“When the server detects that a cheater is tampering with the game in real time, it disables the cheater’s ability to severely damage other players,” Activision said.
“This mitigation leaves cheaters vulnerable to real players and allows [Activision] to gather information about the fraudster’s system. “
Activision says that a new Damage Shield system has been implemented.
It says the system is designed to prevent cheaters from “winning” from regular players.
Activision added: “We monitor these encounters to make sure there is no chance of the game applying Damage Shield at random or randomly, regardless of skill level.
“Just to be clear, we will never interfere in gunfights between law-abiding community members.”
Last December, Activision used Ricochet ban 50,000 players.
This is the latest in a long string of mass bans against cheaters in Call of Duty.
Crucially, it uses Ricochet, which is only rolling out with the new Vanguard and Warzone games this year.
The Ricochet War
Activision said 48,000 players were banned in just one day thanks to the system.
These players will cheat using special software to kill and win the game.
In a statement, the Call of Duty team said: “48,000 cheat accounts were banned yesterday on Warzone and Vanguard thanks to Team Ricochet.”
The exact details of how the new anti-cheat system works are closely guarded, but we have a general idea of what’s going on.
Game makers try not to give away too much – so hackers can’t get it.
The new system is called Ricochet, and we know it works at the kernel level.
That means it can access all the resources on your system.
It’s a higher level than a commonly visited game.
And it means Ricochet can detect any attempt to interact with Call of Duty Warzone.
It can then analyze if you are using special software to cheat.
Call of Duty has banned over half a million accounts in Warzone.
It’s part of a growing crackdown on Warzone cheaters who cause chaos among legitimate gamers.
Cheats use a variety of techniques to win the game.
These include aimbots, wall hacks, trainers, stats hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors, hex editors, and game data or memory manipulation software.
The situation was very bad at that time pro gamer vows to quit Call of Duty Warzone.
“We have zero tolerance for cheaters on Call of Duty and Call of Duty Warzone,” Activision said in a statement earlier this year.
“Our focus is on fighting both fraudsters and fraudulent vendors.
“We are also continuing our efforts to identify and address fraudulent at-source vendors who distribute unauthorized third-party software for modification or hacking.
“We are committed to providing a fair and enjoyable experience for all players.”
Activision says it has security teams monitoring Call of Duty 24/7 to investigate fraud.
And the company has promised to improve the interface for reporting cheaters in the game.
The game maker says all in-game reports are analyzed and investigated.
If a player is found to be cheating – including using “hacks” – a ban will be promptly put in place.
