The North Yorkshire Police call attendant asked the woman “yes” or “no” questions to reveal she was on a bus and felt threatened by a man who was with her.

While the phone line remained open, the call operator was also able to text her for more information.

The force said a 40-year-old man from Leeds, West Yorks, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
