Camilla met the actress who played her in The Crown

The Duchess of Cornwall had to face her youthfulness when she met the actress who played her in the hit TV series The Crown.

amilla welcomed Emerald Fennell and other leading women from the arts, politics and business to her Clarence House as she celebrated International Women’s Day.

Inna Prystailo, wife of Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK, Vadym Prystaiko, who was comforted by the duchess last week, gave a moving speech about the plight of women in her homeland as the Russian invasion continues customary.

Fighting back tears, she said: “Today there is no smile and no peace, only terror and sadness in the eyes of every Ukrainian woman, mother and wife.”

She added: “Now we have to count our dead and see their scared, crying children, who were forced to leave their homeland with their mothers and sisters, from their fathers. them to protect our country.”

Many have written about whether the royal family is happy, about their roles in Netflix’s The Crown series, but the duchess seems content to watch her double TV.

Fennell said of their meeting: “It was absolutely delightful. She is an impressive person, it was a pleasure to meet her today on International Women’s Day as she has done so much for so many charities especially women centered.

“I was very worried that I might get thrown into the tower but so far so good.”

As for Camilla, she added: “She’s been in the spotlight for a long time and has always trumped it with a lot of grace and humour.”

The duchess and actress chatted for a few minutes but when asked about the conversation, Fennell remained tight-lipped and replied with a smile: “You know what – I would be very private, because if I learn whatever it is, it’s ‘sink lips’.
