Can you solve the “yummy emoji” puzzle in 20 seconds? You could become a record holder

A devilishly tricky puzzle has people scratching their heads.

Emoji Brain Teaser asks you to solve an equation using the solution of three equations filled in for you.

It’s a simple algebraic problem that’s a lot trickier than it looks.

The riddle has been making the rounds on social media in the past and was recently shared on TikTok by a passing user @puzzlegame21.

Viewers are presented with a total of four emoji-based equations, three of which have already been solved.

The first shows that three taco emojis add up to 60.

The second shows that the sum of three lettuce emojis is 30.

And finally, three cucumber emojis added together make 24.

The fourth equation isn’t solved for you – you have 20 seconds to figure out the answer to prove your mental abilities.

It asks you to combine the value of each emoji – which you can find out using the previous equations – to get the solution.

The riddle is: “[taco emoji] + [cucumber emoji] x [salad emoji]”.

Can you find out? The equation is difficult for two reasons.

First, all other equations are just additions, making it easy to assume that the final puzzle is just additions too.

That would give the answer 38 (the value of the taco is 20, that of the lettuce is 10, and that of the pickle is 8), but of course that’s not correct.

There is a multiplication symbol hidden inside, which complicates things a bit.

That Answer is 100. To do this, add the taco (20) to the value of the lettuce (10) multiplied by the value of the pickle (8).

That leaves you with 20 + (10 x 8) or 20 + 80 = 100.

In the comments, there was confusion among viewers as to whether the answer should be 100 or 280.

That’s the equation that can also be read as (20 + 10) x 8. That leaves you with 30 x 8 = 280.

However, the rules of mathematics dictate that multiplication is performed before addition, regardless of which appears first when reading from left to right.

That means the equation is 20 + (10 x 8) so 100 is the correct answer.
