P&O Ferry cancellations are causing chaos for passengers arriving at ports like Dover, Calais and others – we look at alternatives for travelers

Ferry P&O strongly announced that they will be suspending operations yesterday (March 17), causing major disruption at UK ports and popular routes such as Dover to Calais.
The ferry operator moved first lay off 800 employees by video callwith plans to replace them with low-cost dealer staff.
As a result, the company has suspended some operations and canceled various routes ‘for the next few days’, although it has not confirmed when it expects services to resume.
A statement on the company’s Twitter page read: “P&O Ferries services may not be available for the next few days. We are advising our customers on alternatives. We will update the source. feed this data every 3 hours along with performance”.

For the majority of routes including Liverpool-Dublin, Hull-Rotterdam and Cairnryan-Larne, passengers are advised not to travel unless they have an essential reason, with most services cancelled.
For those traveling from Dover to Calais, the company said in a statement on its website: “If traveling on our Dover / Calais route, please arrive at the port as booked and we will be shortly. arrange to get you on an alternative airline as quickly as possible.. Once at the port, please proceed to the DFDS check-in counter.”

It should be noted that there is some confusion with some passengers believing their P&O Cruises holiday is cancelled. However, P&O Cruises is part of Carnival Corporation & PLC, and is completely unrelated to P&O Ferries, so if you’ve booked a P&O Cruises holiday stay completely unaffected by ferry operator news .
Alternative ferry operators to P&O . Ferry
For passengers affected by P&O Ferry cancellations and delays, there are alternatives to get you to your destination if your P&O Ferry is cancelled.
Because Dover-Calais P&O Ferries advises passengers to still arrive at the port and go to the check-in counter with a rival airline DFDS. The latter shared an update on Twitter today confirming that their Dover-France-Dover routes are still operating as scheduled.
Routes like Liverpool-Dublin , Hull-Rotterdam and Cairnryan-Larne is being canceled today. While there are no alternatives on these particular routes, there are alternative ferry operators such as Stena . Series and Irish Ferry offers itineraries to some of these destinations.
Irish Ferry also offers Dover-Calais routes, while Brittany Ferry offers several routes to France as well as Spain.
