Cannabis scattered on the ‘420’ freeway

Hundreds of pounds of marijuana were spilled down a US freeway after an accident, TMZ reported. A van allegedly transporting the cannabis drove through the state, where only medical marijuana is legal. Two men in the truck were arrested for drug trafficking. The crash occurred on April 20, or “420,” an international counterculture holiday when people gather to celebrate and use cannabis.

Whitby is aiming for the vampire record

Whitby hopes to set a new world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as vampires to date. English Heritage invites vampire lovers to don their black cloaks and fangs for a meet-up at Whitby Abbey, thought to be ‘the birthplace of Dracula’. To qualify as a vampire for the gathering, revelers must wear black pants or dresses, black shoes, vests, shirts, black cloaks or coats with a collar and fangs on the top row of teeth.

Larger scorpions are less deadly

Larger scorpions have less potent venom, a study has shown. Researchers at the Ryan Institute at the National University of Ireland studied 36 species and found that the smallest species had venom a hundred times more potent than that of the largest. The news complements a scene in an Indiana Jones film in which the hero’s sidekick is stung by a scorpion and complains that it was huge. “Good,” Jones replies. “When it comes to scorpions, the bigger the better.”
