Captain Sir Tom Moore’s daughter was left in tears as she slammed claims she cheated on her father’s NHS donation money.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Hannah Ingram-Moore – who is interim chief executive of the charity – spoke about the “hurting” allegations that she took the money from her father’s charity.
Accounts for the foundation showed that £162,000 was awarded in its first year, while £240,000 of £400,000 was spent on fundraising and administration. The foundation also reimbursed £50,000 in expenses for companies run by Hannah and her husband Colin, including their consultancy Maytrix.
However, Hannah denies that she was paid for her work and reveals all about why the accounts look the way they do.
Speaking on ITV’s This Morning today with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Hannah responded to the trolls who asked why she was always there when her dad was being interviewed about his charity walk.
She said: “My dad couldn’t hear, that was the only reason I sat with him for the interview. He has lived with us for 13 years.”
Hannah insisted that she and the family are just trying to “protect her father’s legacy.”
“I guard my father’s legacy, we would never violate it. But I could never sit here and tell you something that isn’t true. Clearly, our accounts are there to be viewed. But we’re not hiding anything,” she said.
“There’s nothing wrong, we haven’t taken any wrong action, and I really think the vast majority of people know that.”
Speaking to The Mirror, Hannah explained that the foundation was set up after initial funding of £38.9million and so the full millions of pounds were given to NHS Charities Together for distribution.
“People believe the foundation received £38.9million raised by my father. All the money went to NHS Charities Together, who were responsible for distribution,” she explained.
“Reading things like ‘Capt Sir Tom’s daughter is pumping tens of thousands of pounds into her own businesses’ was heartbreaking because it just isn’t true. Colin and I didn’t get paid a penny the first year for a paid role the second year. But to say I used this for financial gain is absolutely ridiculous.
She added, “All the trustees did was go to agencies and ask what the benchmark salary was for the role. The upper end was £150,000 and the lower end was £65,000. They never offered me £150,000. In fact, it’s much closer to the bottom end.”
