GAA players of all ages are being sought to star in Liam Neeson’s latest film, which will be shot briefly at Co Donegal.

ilming of action blockbusters Land of saints and sinners will begin later this month and run through May.

The action adventure tells the story of a retired assassin who is forced into a game of cat and mouse with three terrorists.

A call has now been sent out for additional movies to participate in scenes featuring GAA gameplay.

But those planning to apply are warned that a tight haircut will prevent them from landing a starring role alongside a Hollywood celebrity.

Foundry dealers are looking for a more rugged look.

A spokesperson for said: “What we’re looking for are 1970s hairstyles (sideburns, mustaches, beards and longer hairstyles are welcome), GAA players, men and women in different ages, good readiness (continuous roles will require days of shooting!)

Killybegs Fishing Harbor and surrounding areas including Glencolmcille will be filming locations for two months, it is understood.

The film also stars the famous actor born in Belfast, Ciarán Hinds.

Hinds, 68, is a veteran actor and most recently starred in RTÉ’s crime drama Kin as gang boss Eamon Cunningham.

Neeson and Hinds, lifelong friends, have starred opposite each other in a number of films including John Boorman’s Excalibur.

The film is directed by Robert Lorenz, who has worked with Neeson on recent box office success Marksman.

Neeson, 69, who lives in New York, said he would skydive whenever he could get home to Ireland.

However, appearing on Late evening recently and talked about not being able to go home to Ballymena for her mother’s funeral because of travel restrictions during the pandemic.
