Car ‘loses control’ and crashes into house as two are left hospitalized in an accident

Shocking images have emerged showing a car wedged outside a house after a horror accident that has left two in hospital.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision with a vehicle in Fir Tree, County Durham around 9am Monday.

Durham Police said it is believed the driver of a blue Kia Sorrento lost control and crashed into the front of the house.

A picture from the scene shows the car plowed straight into the townhouse’s bay window, reports Chronicle Live.

The North East Ambulance Service said they dispatched an ambulance crew and took two people to North Durham University Hospital for further treatment.

As of Thursday morning, the car remains at the scene but is fenced off to prevent further injury. The images show the car crashed through the windscreen, causing structural damage to the property.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: “Police were released today (13.

“The vehicle, a blue Kia Sorrento, is believed to have lost control and crashed into a house.

“The driver was taken to hospital as a precaution and fortunately no one was injured.”

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.08am on Monday morning to reports of a road traffic accident at Harperley Terrace in Fir Tree.

“We dispatched an ambulance crew and transported two patients to North Durham University Hospital for further treatment.”

Paul Burr, Maintenance Manager for Durham County Council’s buildings and facilities, said: “We made the building and the surrounding area safe.

“Our officers will be monitoring it to make sure it stays safe until employees from the car owner’s insurance company retrieve the car and repairs are made to the property.”
