Caravans appear on Hove Lawns near Zippos Circus

PEOPLE were outraged by an “unauthorized stock” of caravans parked by the sea.

Sussex Police said they were “monitoring the situation” in Hove Lawns amid anger from local residents.

The Argus has previously reported groups of travelers parking on the lawn next to the Statue of Peace.

Local residents nearby have expressed concerns, with one telling the Argus: “Now this is a big deal”.

“Sussex Police are aware of an unauthorized camp on public land in Hove Lawns,” said a police spokesman.

“Officials have joined forces with the landowners, Brighton and Hove City Council and the group and are monitoring the situation.

“Sussex Police acknowledge the concerns expressed by the public and neighborhood police officers continue to monitor the situation and ensure a visible presence in the area.”

Several caravans were seen parked by the sea earlier this month.

About four camper vans and a number of other vehicles were seen on Hove Lawns, with a deck chair and tent nearby.

This came just a few weeks after another group was relocated from the area, with travelers also being spotted in Preston Park last month.

A Hove resident, who asked not to be named, said at the time he was “disgusted” by the caravans.

The latest camp comes when the world famous Zippos Circus sets up on Hove Lawns today and will remain until September 5th.

Zippo’s Circus is now using a space nearby to open the six-day event at 7pm tonight.

Circus founder Martin “Zippo” Burton said he “can’t wait” to be back and looks forward to giving audiences a “packed suitcase of fun and adventure” with our new show Bon Voyage.

Spectators can expect an action-packed show including motorcycle Globe of Death by Brazilian Lucius Team, fast juggling and whip cracking by Czech star Toni, contortion from Mongolia and aerial antics by Ireland’s Garcia Duo.

Tickets for tonight’s show are £9 for all ages, increasing to £17 tomorrow and £13 for under 14s. Children up to two years ride for free. Caravans appear on Hove Lawns near Zippos Circus
