Passengers aboard a Carnival cruise ship woke up as the ship began to flood and recalled a scene from the movie Titanic.
A TikTok video of the incident showed water seeping into the cabins as it filled an entire hallway on the Carnival Vista ship as passengers were evacuated from their cabins.
“Awoke to water pouring into our cabin… our lives flashed before our eyes,” the passenger said in her video post.
According to the passenger who posted the video, a plumbing problem caused the flooding after the ceiling collapsed from above, filling a cabin with water. Up to two floors of the ship were submerged when the water opened her cabin door and pushed down the hallway ankle-deep.
The passenger said of the situation: “Titanic vibes for about five minutes.”
The TikTok video was one of two videos shared by the Carnival Vista passenger and has been viewed up to 15.6 million times at the time of writing.
The video also showed passengers wading in the water as they rushed to understand what was going on.
Despite the scary incident, the passenger claimed she wasn’t “talking trash,” Carnival, as she was just documenting “a scary experience that turned out to be funny.”
She continued in her post that despite the excitement overflowing on the cruise, she still “had a blast.”
The TikTok post did not reveal whether passengers were compensated for the inconvenience.
