Carrie Fisher’s daughter dies: Life can be magical and ‘grievous’ at the same time

Actress Billie Lourd said she is experiencing “the sad reality” of her mother’s sixth anniversary along with the “miracle of life” following the birth of her second child recently.

arrie Fisher, who is best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, died on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60, days after falling ill on a flight from London to Los Angeles.

To mark her death, Scream Queen actress Lourd, 30, shared a snap of herself as a child wearing a multicolored top next to a smiling Fisher.

The American Horror Story star captioned it: “It’s been 6 years since my mom passed away (feels like 2 but also like 705 at the same time?). And unlike most other years since her death, this year the past two weeks have been some of the happiest of my life.

“Having a daughter and seeing my son meet him are two of the most magical moments I’ve ever experienced. But with the magic of life tends to become the reality of grief.

“My mother is not here to meet either of them and is not here to experience any miracles. Sometimes the magic moments can also be the hardest. That’s the thing about grief.

“I wish my Momby was here, but she’s not. So all I could do was hold onto the magic tighter, hug my kids a little tighter. Tell them a story about her. Share her favorite things with them. Tell them how much she will love them.”

She added: “For anyone out there going through the traumatic reality alongside the magic of life, I see you. You’re not alone. Don’t miss it either. Life can be magical and sad at the same time.”

Fisher was 19 years old when she was cast in the role that defined her career, opposite Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford in Star Wars.

She reprized her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in 2015 and 2017, respectively.

The second film was dedicated to her and her subsequent appearance in The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 through the use of unreleased footage from The Force Awakens.

In September 2020, Lourd announced the surprising news of the birth of her son Kingston on social media, three months after she confirmed her engagement.
