CarTrawler Appoints New Chief Executive

CarTrawler, an Irish online provider of car hire and mobility solutions, has announced that current CEO Cormac Barry is stepping down after four years in office.

The Company has appointed Peter O’Donovan to succeed Mr. Barry.

Mr. O’Donovan has served as the Company’s Chief Operations Officer since 2018.

Before joining CarTrawler, he spent 14 years at Paddy Power. There he worked in a variety of online roles including chief product officer and general manager of the company’s online division.

“I am honored and excited to be appointed Chief Executive of CarTrawler,” he said.

“CarTrawler’s industry-leading technology, revenue management and e-commerce capabilities are ideally positioned to continue to benefit from the travel recovery.”

Cormac Barry was appointed Chief Executive of CarTrawler in early 2018 and is leaving the company for personal reasons.

“Having spent the last 12 years in CEO positions at CarTrawler and before that in Australia, I’d like to take a break to recharge my batteries,” he said.

“CarTrawler has emerged from the pandemic in excellent shape and is now entering the next phase of its development. So this felt like the right time to step down and hand over the reins to a proven leader who is well known in the industry and our partners.”

CarTrawler reported that it has benefited from a sharp return in travel demand as pandemic restrictions eased around the world. The company said it has also seen continued investment in its offering.

The company said revenue for the year ended Sept. 30 will be 100 percent higher than last year. Profitability is now close to pre-Covid levels, according to CarTrawler. CarTrawler Appoints New Chief Executive
