Michael Douglas “warned children against acting,” says Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones has shared two rare pictures of her daughter Carys to celebrate her 19th birthday. And within eight hours, the Hollywood actress’s more than 37,000 Instagram followers were liking the black-and-white pics, with many commenting that Carys looked just like her famous mom.

The first photo shows Carys as a little girl hugging her mother and giving her the cutest smile where she is missing two front teeth. The second is a shot of her as a young woman standing on a beach near the sea wearing a bikini top and a flowing skirt.

Zeta-Jones, 52, captioned the two photos: “Happy 19th birthday to my beautiful daughter (inside and out) Carys, every day is a joy because of you. I love you with all my heart. Mummy.”

Fans were quick to add comments underneath, with one exclaiming, “The absolute cutest man and daughter there is!!!!” Another simply said, “Beauty like her mama,” while a third added, “Lovely ones Family. Your children are simply beaming.”

Referring to Zeta-Jones’ Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the film Chicago in 2002 and how quickly time had passed since then, a fourth comment read: “Happy Birthday, Carys!! Your belly?”

Carys’ father and Zeta-Jones’ husband, Michael Douglas, 77, also took to Instagram to send his daughter a video message celebrating the 19th spectacular sunset. The ‘Basic Instinct’ actor said: “Happy birthday my Carys Zeta!

“It’s your old man! I’m beaming at you, so proud of you and wishing you a great new year!

“It’s going to be fabulous and you’re the best. I love you! Dad.”

In response, his daughter wrote: “Thank you Dadda! You are the most wonderful father and the most beautiful inspiration in the world.

“Thank you for everything you do for me. I love you so much.”

Carys is the youngest daughter of the Hollywood stars who got engaged on New Year’s Eve 1999 and married in November 2000. The couple’s other child is 21-year-old Dylan.

Acting legend Douglas has previously admitted he found it “tough” when he was mistaken for Cary’s grandpa when she graduated from high school last year. He told the Kelly Clarkson Show, “I have to tell you Kelly, it’s a little rough when you walk out the door and the other parents are like, ‘Oh, congratulations… you must be so proud of your granddaughter.’

“I said, ‘Well, I don’t know, man. Yes, okay’. I won’t take it personally, they’re just trying to be nice.”

A year ago, Zeta-Jones announced that both of their children had expressed interest in acting careers. She told TODAY in a video chat, “The journey I’ve had as an actor has been extraordinary, so I can only encourage them to do what they love.

“Their passion is acting as a craft and they’ve done every theater camp … My kids have gone to summer camp every year, to theater camp with all the Broadway kids, and they’ve done very, very well, I have to say.”
