Joining the number of companies that stand in support of the Ukrainian people in this time of war, CCP Games is starting a humanitarian relief effort with EVE Online community.
PLEX For Good is a campaign program EVE Online has been used in the past to raise money for purposes such as COVID-19 relief. This time, the company pledges to contribute from the NIGHT community and its own employees for a total of $250,000.
The campaign will start this week and those who want to help can sign a PLEX contract of any amount for an in-game character called CCP PLEX For GOOD.
With EVE Online The community is very wide and comes from all over, including CCP employees from different countries including Ukraine and Russia, the company is always supportive. They are calling for an end to violence and for peace. But at this time, there are many people affected by the violence, and so this humanitarian aid campaign is another arm for them to respond.
Fundraising for humanitarian aid is just one step, in the announcement of the fundraising initiative, the CCP noted that the Coalition leaders on EVE Online posted notices in support of the Ukrainian and Russian players who were stuck in the middle. Some in the community even see movements trying not to interfere or even agree to protect the assets of Ukrainian-run corporations during this time. It’s an in-game gesture, sure, but it really shows what a community means. There are also calls for courtesy and concern for others no matter where they come from.
The NIGHT The community is known for being bold, dedicated, and steadfast and it’s one way to show you care about your community. This fundraising effort should be another and hopefully get the money into the hands of those who need it.
