CCP releases Fanfest schedule, details on Covid-19 guidelines ahead of next week’s Fanfest in Reykjavik

For Capusleers heading to Iceland for next week’s EVE Online Fanfest, it’s now a bit clearer what they could be doing there, as CCP Games has released the schedule for next weekend’s event. In addition, the studio laid out the guidelines for Covid-19 measures for fans who want to know more about how to stay safe and enjoy Reykjavik.

Fanfest 2022 marks the first time since 2018 that CCP Games has welcomed capsuleers to Iceland for the normally annual event that will unravel the future of the sci-fi MMO. This year, after a few years at the Harpa Concert Hall, the event is back at the Laugardalshöll venue, and attendees will also have the opportunity to see a bit of it EVE online new headquarters.

Registration will take place at CCP Games’ headquarters in Gróska, outside of downtown Reykjavik, where players can collect their passes from Wednesday 4 May. However, if you wait until the start of Fanfest, May 6th, pick yours up at the venue itself.

CCP also details its Covid measures for the event in the post. Iceland itself has lifted all prevention rules at the border and there is no mask requirement in the country. This means there will be no restrictions during Fanfest and it will be more about the well-being of the individual attendee in adhering to personal social distancing and mask standards.

We follow the Icelandic Directorate of Health when it comes to COVID-19. As of this writing, all prevention rules have been lifted at the Icelandic border, meaning no previous negative PCR tests or proof of vaccination are required. Masks and 2 meter distancing rules are also not mandatory, so it is up to everyone to exercise their discretion when walking through downtown Reykjavik or EVE Fanfest.

Something for attendees to keep in mind is that flying back to countries of origin requires a negative Covid-19 test result, so maintaining safe Covid practices during Fanfest is still of paramount importance to many (particularly US Participants who require a negative test one day before returning to the States). CCP will provide numerous hand sanitizer stations and will encourage attendees to be mindful of others’ personal spaces throughout the venue.

Also held on EVE Fanfest this year are the EVE Online World Tour Tournament Finals. These are the finals of the World Tour, dating back to 2019, where pilots take the stage to fight for the championship in epic 2v2 battles.

The event itself begins on Friday morning Icelandic time, with the opening ceremony taking place at 11:00 GMT. The schedule itself is packed with panels covering everything EVE Lore, the music of EVE, to roundtables on current trend topics such as factional warfare. You can see the full schedule on the EVE Online website for more details.
