Anna Williamson spoke about the dating world as we come out of a pandemic, which has left many “naked” and “stunned” when it comes to relationships.
The Celebs Go Dating presenter, 40, offered her advice to those looking for love as life slowly returns to the way it was in 2020.
The TV presenter and relationship expert also revealed that the news of a celebrity split could bring some excitement to the Channel 4 team, as they keep an eye on the prospect of new people. new single for their popular show.
Speaking to The Mirror, Anna revealed that the celebrities on Channel 4’s dating show were partly the inspiration for her new book, Where Is The Love?.
Anna said, “One of the biggest inspirations for writing Where is the love? was the result of doing Celebs Go Dating for many years.
“I, give a lot of advice that I give to celebrities and it’s important to me to give that advice to everyone.”
Anna added: “A lot of us can go through challenges in the worlds of dating and relationships and feel it’s really important to write down some of that advice in book form so everyone can can take advantage of and when they need it with their own love lives.”
Working with celebrities is no different than working with non-celebs, Anna says, and she says one of the ways she’s been successful with celebrities on the show.
Anna said: “I treat everyone the same and I think anyone who thinks they’re different or better or worse because they’re in the public eye, the first thing I say is ‘no, you are’ As a human being, you are like you’.
“With celebrities, they tend to come with an extra layer if the complexity that is well known can add up, and they’re often worried about people having stereotypes about them but not really. Turns out, very quickly when you work with famous people, you find them to be ordinary people, someone who constantly asks for help with their lives.
“And it’s lovely, especially when celebs date, they really understand that they’re human.
“Paul and I just treat them that way and do our best to help them and it’s lovely that they really bring that on board and think, really these people want to help and they’re real people – it’s a lovely part of my job.”
In general about dating, Anna thinks that the pandemic has greatly affected the way people approach finding love in this day and age.
She said: “Since the pandemic, I think people have become quite tired and weary and ultimately cautious when it comes to dating – we all have a bit of a skill set, especially especially in the dating world.
“A lot of people are just getting their confidence back or are trying to work on their confidence and figure out what they could possibly want from the dating scene.
“I often tell people, do your best because otherwise it can be quite overwhelming with so many options out there and it’s really about cultivating what you want and why. you want it with your love life to really get it otherwise the choice is overwhelming.”
Anna points out that locking the door has a serious effect on previously stable relationships.
She continued: “We’re definitely seeing a lot of terrible relationships that won’t stand the test of time due to the pandemic as more and more couples stay together and divorce rates rise. so I think we’re at a point where we really need to shine a little inside and take care of ourselves and love ourselves and in our relationships because they matter. important.
“The pandemic is a really good test of how much people have come to appreciate each other as those who have weathered the storm have come to realize how much a loved one means to them.
“I think that’s what we’ve been through, and during this pandemic, we’ve realized how important our relationships are to us, and I’m seeing a lot of people prioritizing it. They’re taking that into account on a large scale now, because they realize how important those people are when we just really have each other.
“It’s clear that some have not stood the test of time while others have absolutely thrived.”
Celebs Go Dating proved to be a huge hit for Channel 4, and Anna admits she got a bit of a stir when she saw a celebrity couple go down to the pan.
Anna revealed: “I know it sounds terrible but I think that sometimes I see an unfortunate celebrity find themselves single – or they might be really happy with it – and I note. Remember I will mention that team.
“I’d love to see Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, on the show, I think she’s going to be amazing, she’s at the top of my list at the moment.”
Anna adds that there is only one way to be with other people and has found that has helped her succeed with her career and with the show.
She said: “I think it’s really important to be honest and authentic and I think I’ve always been on the side of my job, I don’t know any other way, so there are elements of relationships. that I had in there.” I can draw on the experiences that I have gained from talking to people as a professional coach.
“I feel that we are all in this together.”
