FACEBOOK users who have signed up for the dating feature should review their settings.
Facebook Dating, launched in 2019, can be a fun and efficient way to make a new connection with someone.
The tool is similar to other popular apps like Tinder in that it allows users to swipe left and right on people they are attracted to.
Unlike Tinder, Facebook Dating automatically hides your profile from your friends unless you’re on their Secret Crush list.
However, it does not automatically prevent friends of friends from seeing your profile.
And if that bothers you, changing your settings for the feature might help.
How do I hide friends from friends?
Facebook Dating actually gives you the ability to tweak your privacy settings to hide friends of your friends as potential matches.
To do this, you need to go into the tool’s settings and then tap on General.
From there, tap Privacy, then scroll down to Suggest Friends of Friends and toggle it off.
After that, you should no longer receive friends of friends as suggestions.
Also, the only way someone can see that you have a crush on them is through Secret Crushes.
This is a feature of Facebook Dating that allows you to choose up to nine of your Facebook friends or Instagram followers that you are interested in.
If you add someone to your list and that person adds you to their list, you will be merged.
However, if that person doesn’t use Facebook Dating – or doesn’t add you to their list – they won’t be notified that you’ve entered their name.
How to Access Facebook Dating
If you are interested in trying out Facebook Dating, you can access the tool in the main Facebook app.
First, open the Facebook app on your mobile device, then tap the three-line menu in the All Shortcuts section.
From there, search for Dating, click Get Started, and follow the prompts to set up your dating profile.
