Ferrari looks like the team to beat after just two races, opening an already impressive 40-point lead Mercedes in the second. The margin too red bull increases by one and is perhaps more significant considering that it is Christian Hoerner ‘s team, which looks like the only ones that can match the Italians at the moment.
In the drivers’ standings, the top two drivers are those wearing red racing suits. Leclerc leads after the win with 45 points Bahrain Grand Prix and finished second in Saudi Arabia while back-to-back podiums were seen Carlo Sainz also start well.
defending champion Max Verstappen is the next best, but is already 25 points behind leaders Leclerc. That gap would be much smaller if his Red Bull hadn’t suffered a fatal mechanical failure in Bahrain, but if, but and maybe the result of the championship won’t decide – points will.
Leclerc is already looking like the biggest threat to Verstappen’s crown this year, having beaten Sainz in both races so far and wanting a car much quicker than the one driven by the Mercedes pair Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. And if the prediction of the Monegasque for the coming races comes true, then the defending champion has to worry.
“I’m feeling good in general, but there’s definitely more to come,” Leclerc told reporters. “What makes me happy isn’t really the performance, it’s knowing exactly where I still need to work and what I need to improve to unleash more performance.

“Whether it will be enough for the world title or not, I have no idea. It’s still very early in the season but let’s say it’s a very good start to the season. As I’ve said many times, I think development will be key and we as drivers have to give the team the best possible support in order to remain competitive.”
Meanwhile, Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko has admitted Verstappen’s goal of defending his title will not be easy to achieve. “It’s also going to be a long, hard road for Max,” he said Austria. “The tests have already shown that Ferrari has a car that can compete in all conditions. And we have to take Mercedes into account – Hamilton is only nine points behind Max.”
