CHARLOTTE Crosby has been outed for allegedly failing to disclose that she was paid for some posts on her Instagram.
The advertising regulator included the reality star in its “Named and Shamed” list for “repeatedly” not “being upfront and clear when her social media posts are ads.”
Influencers are expected to let users know if they’re being paid to feature products in posts by using something like #ad in the caption.
But the Geordie Shore legend’s management told The Sun the only product she’s ever used is a tanning gel.
“Charlotte would never knowingly endorse a company that illegally sells unlicensed product and to suggest otherwise is untrue, highly defamatory, malicious and criminal,” her spokesman said.
Crosby, 31, joins Amber Gilwho has been on the watch list since January.
Tyne-Lexy Clarson and Scotty T were also attracted in December.
The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) keeps suspected rule violators on the list for three months.
Their bodies are subject to increased scrutiny to decide whether they meet the regulator’s standards.
“We prefer to work with influencers and brands to help them stick to the rules, but Charlotte Crosby has repeatedly failed to be upfront and clear when its social media posts are about ads,” said a spokesman for the regulator.
“It’s not difficult: be frank and clear when posts and stories are ads.
“If this does not bring the expected changes, we will not hesitate to consider further sanctions.”
In January, angry officials went a step further and ran their own ads on Instagram Exposing six stars for not sorting it.
