A NEW supermarket has opened on the site of a previously demolished store.
The Co-op store in London Road, Brighton, is under a new residential building and will create 30 new jobs.
The new store is powered entirely by renewable energy and offers Amazon parcel pickup, a Fairtrade coffee machine, freshly squeezed orange juice and sushi, as well as everyday essentials.
It also has a recycling unit that allows the community to return “soft plastics,” including packets of chips, ready meal lids and cookie wrappers.
Ferhat Spurling, Store Manager of the new store, previously said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to open a new look Co-op store on London Road.
“Our goal is to operate at the heart of local life and we look forward to welcoming our members and customers to their new cooperative.
“We’ve worked to create the range, selection, products and additional services to create a truly compelling offering to conveniently serve the community.”
The new market also features a hot food area, take-out, bakery section, self-checkout and more.
Co-op’s previous London Road store closed and demolished in October 2019 to make way for student housing.
