We’re just months away from the Splatoon 3 summer 2022 release window, and Nintendo has quietly revealed new screenshots for the Switch title.

Splatoon 3: Screenshots from Nintendo’s Japanese website

The story of Splatoon 3 seems to really dive into the post-apocalyptic atmosphere, with an inverted Eiffel Tower, a Mad Max-esque wasteland and an inverted city skyline. You can also get a glimpse of some returning characters, like the Squid Sisters from Splatoon 1. There’s also a sneak peek at Splatsville, the “City of Chaos” that will serve as this game’s central world, like Inkopolis from the older games .

We last saw Splatoon 3 in the February 2022 Nintendo Direct, where we learned that the cooperative Salmon Run mode is returning, bringing with it a handful of new boss types. Nintendo originally revealed Splatoon 3 in February 2021 and later announced the single-player campaign called Return of the Mammalian.
