Check out this beautiful Mirror’s Edge inspired Unreal Engine 5 project

If you’re an old and jaded Mirror’s Edge fan, 3D environment artist Thomas Ripoll can create something that will put a big grin on your face. Thomas has posted screenshots of his own project on Twitter using the shiny new Unreal Engine 5, and it looks like they’ve nailed it.

Linked above is the tweet with several screenshots of this early project, all featuring this fantastic mix of minimalism and modernism with clean primary colors pasted over a sea of bright white sprawl. Everything in the images above is homemade and goes straight with the Mirror’s Edge aesthetic.
According to the creator, they would like to have something playable in this loving recreation of Mirror’s Edge style, although without any programming experience a dedicated parkour movement system might be beyond their capabilities for now. Nonetheless, even walking around in these settings would be exuberant and would no doubt evoke a wave of nostalgia.
Those scenes came out quickly too, since Unreal Engine 5 only released to the public earlier this month. We’ve already seen some brilliant looking projects in the wild, like the excellent Matrix UE5 demo and a fun Simpsons Hit and Run project that was released a while back. Now that anyone can play around with the engine, it’s only a matter of time before more cool projects start pouring in.
