Celebrity chef Paul Flynn’s fascination with food trucks began when he was 15 years old and worked in a mobile burger truck at local summer festivals.
And now he’s honed his food truck knowledge for a new TV series, Paul Flynn’s Food Truck Favorites.
Over the past two years, the pandemic has challenged chefs and restaurants to find creative ways to deliver meals to customers. This led to an explosion of outdoor dining and street food.
The six-part series, sponsored by Kerrygold, will follow Paul Flynn across Ireland in search of new-found food truck treasures.
Each episode will focus on a different ingredient as Paul Flynn explores the chains that make up a variety of dishes. He’ll then head back to his own food truck to craft some of these dishes with his own unique twist.
In episode one, Paul Flynn is hunting for lamb dishes. He started at Co. Kerry with the signature lamb tacos of a pickup truck. He uses this as inspiration when he creates Moroccan fried cornbread and pulled lamb.
The celebrity chef will explore the menus of 18 different food trucks over the next six weeks.
The first episode will air tonight, July 6, at 8pm on RTÉ One.
