Chelsea are pushing hard for a deal for £50million-rated Albion full-back Marc Cucurella as personal terms have reportedly been agreed with him.
The Blues have long been following Cucurella, who graduated from Barcelona’s academy and impressed at Getafe before joining Albion in 2021.
Now it has been reported by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano that the Blues have reached a personal agreement with Cucurella.
He tweeted: “A full agreement on personal terms has now been reached between Chelsea and Cucurella.
“The potential contract has been approved, Marc is ready to accept it once the clubs have agreed on the fee.
“Chelsea and Brighton resume direct talks today to finalize the deal.”
Albion are understood to be sticking with a £50m valuation for Cucurella, who are believed to have blocked a potential move to Manchester City.
Chelsea continue to reshuffle the squad under new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, with manager Thomas Tuchel remaining interested in two more defensive recruits.
The Blues are also believed to have a strong interest in Leicester’s Wesley Fofana, although prying the French star out of the King Power Stadium outfit will prove difficult.
Cucurella is believed to be open to a move to Chelsea, with the Spain star with one cap already showing his desire for a new challenge amid extended interest from Manchester City.
Chelsea have already signed big names in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly but are determined to add more new faces to the squad.
However, Albion have been linked with several left-backs who could replace Cucurella, including Anderlecht’s Sergio Gomez and former Manchester City defender Angelino, who currently plays for RB Leipzig.
