They are reportedly set to move in after Manchester City turned down an offer for the defender.
They would be fully aware that Albion will not make any offers below their own valuation of the player, which is at least £50m.
Chelsea could offer defender Levi Colwill as part of any proposal.
The Argus were recently told that Colwill was a player that Albion was “aware of, but nothing more at this point”.
Cucurella missed Saturday’s friendly against Espanyol.
Albion boss Graham Potter reported the player has a slight calf problem and said the club are confident and relaxed in their position regarding his immediate future.
