Chelsea are said to be making a £33million offer for highly-rated Reims striker Hugo Ekitike.
The 19-year-old has impressed for the French club this season, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in 20 Ligue 1 matches.
But the fact that Erling Haaland is waiting to leave Borussia Dortmund means the transfer could be in trouble.
It comes as Liverpool’s new ambitions show they are ready to take on Chelsea – and heed the advice of Jamie Carragher.
And former coach Antonio Conte exploded Tottenham Hotspur’s constant struggles in the transfer market after missing out on his top two goals in last month’s window.

Conte is disappointed
Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has voiced his complaint about new club Tottenham Hotspur’s difficulty in the transfer market.
Spurs brought in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski in the final hours of the window, but were ultimately frustrated by missing out on top goals Adama Traore and Luis Diaz.
It’s nothing new for Italians to complain about transfers, and Chelsea fans will be familiar with the tune that Conte has now performed with his new team.
But he was unhappy with Spurs’ work in January, which he said ‘on paper undermined’ his squad.
Liverpool prepare to face the Blues

Earlier in the season, Reds legend Carragher said his former club must follow in Chelsea’s footsteps and begin the challenge to win silverware each season.
And Trent Alexander-Arnold’s latest statement about the club’s ambitions shows the Red Devils are ready to take on Chelsea for the silver trophy.
Ekitike bid is ready
Chelsea are said to be ready to bid £33m for Reims striker Hugo Ekitike, who has been dubbed the ‘next Kylian Mbappe’.
Premier League competitor Newcastle United are also said to be keen on bringing in the young Frenchman, although Borussia Dortmund could provide the main competition for his signature.
That’s because there is information that the German side wants Ekitike to replace it Erling Haalandwho looks set to leave the club when a £67million release clause comes into effect in his contract this summer.
Ekitike is said to have skipped the last day of the January transfer window to move in to the new rich Newcastle United Football Club to watch the rest of the season with his boyhood club Reims.
The Blues will therefore face the challenge of securing the player’s signature at the end of the season.
