Thomas Tuchel talks about his future as Chelsea manager
Jamie Carragher has warned Chelsea to learn from Liverpool’s ownership woes following Roman Abramovich’s decision to sell the club.
Liverpool endured a difficult period under the owners of Tom Hicks and George Gillett before finally selling the club to the FSG after an overwhelming three and a half year tenure.
The upcoming sale of Chelsea also means Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta face an uncertain future with the club.
All three players are out of contract this summer and Chelsea may not be able to offer them any new deals due to ongoing ownership issues.
Meanwhile, N’Golo Kante revealed that he and the rest of his teammates were not “prepared” for the announcement that the club is now up for sale.
Here are Mirror football latest Chelsea headlines.
Carragher warns Chelsea
Jamie Carragher recalled Liverpool’s past nightmare in a stern warning to Chelsea as Roman Abramovich prepares to sack the club.
Abramovich announced Wednesday he was selling the Blues, 19 years after he bought the club in a move that would change the face of the club First League.
An American-Swiss consortium led by billionaire Hansjorg Wyss is said to be in pole position to take Chelsea from the hands of the Russian oligarch.
Carragher insists finding “the right buyer” is of paramount importance if the west Londoners are to avoid the fate that befell Liverpool under Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr.
Question marks over the future of the trio
Chelsea trio Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta face an uncertain future in west London as Roman Abramovich’s sale of the club raises questions about potential new deals.
Abramovich has announced plans to sell the club after almost 20 years as owner, although an opening offer has reportedly been rejected, with the Russian’s agent advising there is no “rush” to sell.
There was also uncertainty about the future of Marina Granovskaia, the director who has spearheaded much of Chelsea’s transfer and contract business over the past decade.
Rudiger, Christensen and Azpilicueta are all out of contract at the end of next season, although negotiations have taken place in recent months, albeit without new agreements.
Edge to Abramovich’s announcement
N’Golo Kante admits the Chelsea dressing room was ‘unprepared’ when Roman Abramovich announced his intention to sell the club but remains focused on football matters.
The Russian billionaire announced on Tuesday that he wants to sell the west London company.
It will bring down the curtain on his nearly two-decade ownership of the Stamford Bridge club and bring with it a sense of uncertainty.
On the pitch, Abramovich’s millions have transformed Chelsea into a global force, with Kante enjoying massive success since joining in 2016.
