Tuchel “proud” of Chelsea player despite FA Cup defeat

Government sources reportedly fear the Chelsea takeover could be “exceeded by certain sporting deadlines” and that Roman Abramovich is “finally ready to see the club go under”.

The billionaire put the club up for sale after his native Russia invaded Ukraine, before being sanctioned by the UK government for its alleged ties to Vladimir Putin. American businessman Todd Boehly has spearheaded a consortium that has agreed to buy Abramovich’s Stamford Bridge outfit, though it is now claimed there are fears the deal could fall through.

It comes as footage has emerged of Thomas Tuchel urging Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson ahead of the FA Cup final. And Robert Lewandowski has reportedly decided where his future lies amid interest in the Bayern Munich star.

fears of takeovers

The upcoming sale of Chelsea to Todd Boehly’s consortium was reportedly in doubt because Roman Abramovich was unwilling to accept certain terms of the sale imposed by the UK government.

The Russian billionaire has previously promised that the proceeds of the transaction will go to a charitable fund for victims of the war in Ukraine. The Government insists the £2.6billion fee agreed earlier in the month will be held in escrow until it can be ensured it will be handed over to a foundation.

However, Abramovich is said to want the £1.6billion he has loaned the club since buying it in 2003 to go to Jersey-based company Camberley International Investments. But there are doubts about the company’s ownership and the Charity Commission says no application has been made to register a foundation – and now government sources are said to have expressed fears about the sale’s failure.

Spotted Tuchel’s antics

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was spotted on camera jokingly shoving Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson ahead of the FA Cup final.

The incident occurred as managers met with match officials ahead of Saturday’s game. The captains were allowed to attend a meeting with officials and managers from both clubs, although Tuchel appeared unaware that he could bring Cesar Azpilicueta with him given the Spaniard’s absence.

Tuchel playfully pulled Henderson out of the conversation when it was pointed out that he might have brought his captain as well, before only the officials and Klopp were left.

Lewandowski attitude revealed

Robert Lewandowski appears to be squashing interest from Chelsea this summer as he seeks a move to Barcelona.

The Polish forward has been linked with the departure of German club Bayern Munich as his contract at the Allianz Arena expires next summer. Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was reportedly interested in signing the fatal goalscorer, although Lewandowski himself reportedly prefers a move to Barcelona.

The striker is also said to have concerns about joining the Premier League but if Barca’s financial woes prevent them from moving for him, Lewandowski could still arrive at Stamford Bridge.
