Thomas Tuchel made an awkward joke about including Romelu Lukaku in his Chelsea lineup before the game First League game against arsenal.

The Gunners left Stamford Bridge with all three points after a brace from Eddie Nketiah helped a 4-2 win for Mikel Arteta’s side. Blues boss Tuchel dropped Kai Havertz from his starting XI while Romelu Lukaku returned to the starting XI.

And while discussing the decision with Sky Sports ahead of kick-off, the Blues boss cracked a rather uncomfortable joke about the Belgium international’s situation at Stamford Bridge. It comes as Mason has declared to Mount that he wants the “payback.” Liverpool in the next month FA Cup Final after Chelsea lost on penalties to Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Carabao Cup in March.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount wants ‘payback’ against Liverpool in FA Cup final

Chelsea suffered a 4-2 defeat by Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night as the Gunners reignited their hopes of a place in the top four of the Premier League.

Chelsea came back twice from behind as goals from Timo Werner and Cesar Azpilicueta ensured the teams went into the break after Eddie Nketiah’s opener before Emile Smith Rowe’s fine finish. But another goal from Nketiah and Bukayo Saka’s late penalty sealed a valuable victory for Mikel Arteta’s side at Stamfod Bridge.

It was a game full of talking points, including Lukaku’s ongoing struggles and Chelsea’s absence from Antonio Rudiger.

Tuchel’s clumsy joke

Thomas Tuchel gave an awkward response when asked by Sky Sports why he started Romelu Lukaku in Chelsea’s Premier League game against Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge last summer with a club-record £97.5million but things haven’t quite gone as hoped and the Belgium international has struggled for form, scoring just 12 times in 37 appearances in all competitions his team. This has led to speculation he could be looking for another move in the summer transfer window – with former club Inter Milan reportedly keen on bringing him back to the club on loan.

And ahead of the Arsenal game, Tuchel joked he sidelined Lukaku over the unrelenting questions about the Chelsea striker and his future.

Berg demands “repayment”

Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount has demanded a “payback” from Liverpool if the two sides meet in the FA Cup final.

Jurgen Klopp’s side defeated the Blues in a thrilling penalty shoot-out to lift the Carabao Cup in March, meaning Mount has appeared in five finals at Wembley without winning with his side. And the Blues ace has said “now is the time for Liverpool to pay back for their losses to the Reds” – and Thomas Tuchel says he thinks it’s “good” that his players are playing the game in hope seek revenge.
