Thomas Tuchel evaluates the draw of the wolves

Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly appears to have already reached an agreement with Blues boss Thomas Tuchel on how to tackle one of the club’s biggest problems.

Boehly’s consortium is understood to be poised to complete the £4.25billion purchase of the Stamford Bridge outfit in the coming days after it was revealed early Saturday morning that the co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers had agreed terms on the purchase of the club has agreed. And he may have already hinted at how he will approach recruiting new players once the acquisition is sealed.

It comes as Wolves goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts branded Romelu Lukaku a “big lump” after Saturday’s 2-2 draw. And the Blues clinched their third consecutive Women’s Super League title after beating Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea win WSL title

Chelsea won the Barclays Women’s Super League for the third straight season after twice beating Manchester United 4-2 and ending Arsenal’s title hopes.

The Gunners knew they had a shot at winning the WSL title on the last day of the season if they beat the Blues’ result against Unted in the West Ham clash. And it seemed within reach as Chelsea fell behind United twice at Kingsmeadow, the first from a Martha Thomas header and the second from a volley from Ella Toone.

But a beautiful Sam Kerr volley equalized before Guro Reit put a close shot ahead and another Kerr volley sealed the win. It was a dramatic final day of the WSL season that saw the Blues also see Manchester United miss out on a Champions League spot.

Lukaku branded a ‘big lump’

Romelu Lukaku was branded “a big lump” by Wolves goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts when he questioned whether the Blues should have gotten a penalty in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Visiting captain Conor Coady saved a point with an injury-time header for Wolves to stun the Blues, who had taken a 2-0 lead in the second half thanks to Lukaku’s clever brace. The Blues took the lead with a second-half penalty after powerful Belgium brought down Romain Saiss in the box.

He then sent off the resulting penalty effortlessly, although Roberts questioned the decision to award a penalty as he said he was “not sure” there was enough contact for Lukaku to go down.

Boehly and Tuchel agree on the problem

Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly wants to build a team you don’t want to play against – and might want to use the same tactics at Chelsea.

The Boehly-led consortium appears successful in its bid to become the new owners of Chelsea after Roman Abramovich put the Stamford Bridge outfit up for sale following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. football.london reports that when Boehly spoke about his ambitions for the Dodgers in 2018, he said: “We’re trying to get to the point where they [the opposition] don’t even want to play and we just win before we even have to play.

“So you get the team to believe and then of course you have to get the scouts to believe and you have to get everyone to use data.” And the comments are strikingly similar to the plans Thomas Tuchel made shortly after his arrival sketched in the association.
