Child hospitalized in serious condition after accident in Co Galway


A child is in serious condition in hospital after a road accident involving a minibus this afternoon in Co Galway.

Ardaí and emergency services visited the scene of the accident at Dunlo Quay, off the L4602 in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

The collision occurred around 12:10 p.m. and involved a minibus and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a girl, was later taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, where she is currently being treated for serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

“The road is currently closed with detours. A forensic collision investigation is planned,” Gardaí said in a statement.

“Gardaí appeals to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to get in touch.

“All road users who were near the Dunlo roundabout and the L4602 between 12.05pm and 12.20pm and have camera footage (including dash cam) are asked to provide it to Gardaí.”
