Child rapist has made a “horrific” eight-minute video in which he abuses a little girl

Melvin Miller, 46, from Frome, Somerset – sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2020 – is said to have made an eight-minute video of him raping a little girl after police searched his hard drive again

A sick child rapist shot a “horrifying” eight-minute video of himself raping a little girl.

Melvin Miller ran a sadistic abuse campaign in which he molested two girls, ages six and eleven.

The 46-year-old, originally from St Helens, Merseyside and then Frome, Somerset, was sentenced to 16 years in prison for his crimes in 2020.

But yesterday he was back before a judge after it was revealed he had committed other rapes on one of his victims, reports the Liverpool echo.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Friday that a renewed search of Miller’s hard drive found further evidence of his abuse, including lengthy footage of a rape.

He was previously found to have in his possession more than a quarter of a million indecent pictures of children.

Attorney John Wyn Williams said the new charges against the pedophile, who is serving his sentence at HMP Frankland in County Durham, come after new allegations were made by one of his victims.

Mr Williams said: “After he was sentenced, she gave further details. In that police interview, she claimed to have been raped by the accused.”

Police then conducted a new analysis of a hard drive they confiscated from Miller and found footage of him raping the little girl.

Paul Lewis, defending himself, said Miller initially pleaded not guilty to the offenses but later did so to avoid the need for a trial.

In all, Miller pleaded guilty to three other charges of rape, two of attempted rape and one of making an indecent video of a child.

The judge, Neil Flewitt QC, said the latest allegations showed that Miller’s abuse of the child was worse than previously known.

Judge Flewitt addressed the eight-minute recording Miller made of himself committing abuse, calling it “appalling”.

Judge Flewitt also convicted Miller in 2020.

That 16-year sentence was referred to the Court of Appeal by the Attorney General, who accused him of being too lenient.

The Court of Appeals upheld the original verdict, but found it to be on the lower end of the acceptable range.

On Friday, Judge Flewitt said his goal is for Miller’s prison sentence for all of his crimes to reflect what it would have been if they had been convicted all at once.

That’s because they were all part of the same criminal behavior and committed during the same period of time.

He said doing so would mean following the same principles he followed during the 2020 sentencing hearing.

Judge Flewitt said, “I make it clear that I will not, by a backdoor route, amend the sentence I have entered on this occasion in response to these comments by the Court of Appeals.”

He imposed a concurrent 15-year prison sentence on Miller.

That means the sentence will be served at the same time as his current sentences, but will increase the time he is behind bars before he becomes eligible for parole.

This would have been April 2028 but would now probably be towards the end of 2029.

Judge Flewitt said this is consistent with how Miller would have been sentenced had the new allegations come to light in 2020.

After the sentencing, Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: “Miller’s offenses were truly appalling. He’s a dangerous sex offender who now faces an even longer prison sentence and life imprisonment.

“Thanks to the immense bravery of his victims, both of whom are still children, two years ago Miller was imprisoned for a considerable amount of time.

“Having the power to speak out more about his horrific crimes, the victim has enabled Merseyside Police, prosecutors and the courts to extend the time he will spend in prison and the public further from harm to protect, which Miller represents.

“It was an extremely difficult process for the victims and I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to their courage.

“Despite the unimaginable suffering Miller caused them, they brought from their experience the strength and fortitude to speak to the police and cooperate with the court process, and helped bring this dangerous man to justice.” Child rapist has made a "horrific" eight-minute video in which he abuses a little girl
