Chippy shocks Brits with bizarre BLUE and red fish and chips for Platinum Jubilee

Fish and Chips Shop shares its anniversary special

Horrified social media users slammed a special blue and red Platinum Jubilee Fish and Chips to commemorate it.

Crisp and Fry, a chain of crisp shops in Llanelli and Ammanford in Wales, has gone viral on TikTok after turning the nation’s favorite dish into the colors of the Union Jack flag – by adding blue and red food coloring to the batter.

The Chippy uploaded a video of the chips being dipped in red batter while a fish fillet is smothered in blue batter and then deep fried.

Once cooked, the blue breaded fish is placed on bright red fries, with mayonnaise that mimics the stripes on the Union Jack flag.

The video is set to the traditional marching song of British military units, The British Grenadiers, with the TikTok video caption asking users “Anyone GB Jubilee Fish and Chips?”

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, June 2-5, the fish and chip shop thought it would pay tribute to the four-day bank holiday weekend with its own take.

The reaction wasn’t as good as they might have expected, however, with many on the social media platform finding the colorful fish and chips a step too far.

One user wrote: “Thanks Queen is crying now” and another joked: “The police have been informed.”

A third warned the chip shop that “my therapist will find out about this.”

Some users were so disgusted by the video that they asked if they could give up their UK citizenship, with one user writing, “Can I please renounce my UK citizenship?”

However, the food coloring-covered national dish has managed to gain some followers, with one user commenting, “When people say the Brits have no culture, show them.”

Another wrote: “Oi oi, real Bri’ish [sic] Kitchen.”
