Chris Evans Announces TFI Friday Will Return – But There’s a Big Change

TFI Friday ran on Channel 4 from 1996 to 2000 and was hosted by Evans. It’s back for a one-off revival series in 2015

Chris Evans has revealed that the legendary ’90s TFI Friday hit is making a comeback… but it could look a little different.

The show ran on Channel 4 from 1996 to 2000 and was hosted by Evans. It returned for a one-off revival series in 2015.

However, the show will not air on the channel when it returns in September – nor on any other traditional broadcaster.

Instead, Chris says it will likely be streamed, with old content as well as new content.

Speaking on his radio show, Chris said: “Of course TFI Friday will be back in September.

“Can I tell you a little more about it? Oh, sure. The point is now you don’t need the channel.

“You just don’t need one.”

Explaining that the format would allow them to be more creative, he continued: “It’s amazing what you can do.

“TFI Friday doesn’t have to be an hour long, maybe longer, we can go live.

“We have all the chronicles and back catalogs and gallery footage.

“So we’ve got David Bowie footage that hasn’t been seen, and all of that is happening.”

Last year, Chris took a break from his Virgin Radio show to have kidney stone surgery.

He returned to the program with his urologist after his hospital stay.

He said the pain from the kidney stones caused him pain, revealing he initially thought he had hit the wind.

Explaining his hospitalization earlier this month, the star said: “I ended up at A&E on Sunday morning at two o’clock. I called 111 and thought I had ‘man pain’, I thought I had been hit by the wind… They kept me there for a few nights straight away – I had a CT scan.

“After I arrived, they knew what it was or frankly… the kidney stones were gone. All three of them were completely eradicated.”
