Oscars: Will Smith slams Chris Rock after joking about Jada

Chris Rock reportedly didn’t know Jada Pinkett-Smith had alopecia before he made a joke about her hair at the Oscars.

The stand-up comedian hosted Sunday night’s star-studded event as he commented on Jada’s shaved head and said he can’t wait for GI Jane 2.

After 50-year-old Jada rolled her eyes at the jibe, her husband Will Smith stormed onto the stage and slapped Chris in the face on live TV.

At first, fans thought it was part of the show, but the mood in the room quickly changed when Will shouted, “Keep my wife’s name out of your friggin’ mouth.”

A source with direct knowledge of the feud tells TMZ Former Saturday Night Live star Chris had “no idea” about Jada’s health.

Adding the comic “doesn’t have a bad bone in his body,” they would never intentionally offend anyone on such a personal level.

Chris was said to have been “shattered and confused” by Will’s slap in the face but still managed to get on with the show.

He later went to an Oscars after-party to try and have some fun before the night ended.

Despite reports that Chris and Will had spoken out and buried the hatchet, the source said neither had spoken onstage since the altercation.

Despite publicly apologizing to Chris, Will admitted he was “out of line and wrong” and called his actions “unacceptable and inexcusable.”

Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Chris would not press charges against Will.

Academy Governor Whoopi Goldberg said Will would also keep his first-ever Oscar for his portrayal of Serena and Venus Williams’ father in the film King Richard.

She said, “I think he overreacted … I think he had one of those moments where it was [God damn] it, just stop.

“I understand not everyone behaves the way we would like under pressure. And he snapped…”

She added: “Sometimes you get to a point where you misbehave. I myself have misbehaved on occasion.”

Will’s wife Jada, 25, first opened up about her hair loss during a Facebook Watch series in 2018 and revealed why she wore turbans.

She later made the decision to shave her head entirely and has since been open to fans following her journey.

Jada shared an honest video post with her 11 million followers in December, saying, “Now I can only laugh at this point…you all know I struggle with alopecia.”

“And one day all of a sudden,” she continued as she pointed the top of her head at the camera.

Jada added: “Look at that line right here. Look at that. Mom will put some rhinestones in it and I’ll just make myself a little crown.”

Alopecia is an autoimmune condition that results when your body attacks its own hair follicles, causing your hair to fall out – often in clumps.

Doctors don’t have an exact reason as to why it happens, but genetics are believed to play a role.

There is no cure, but you can use medications like anti-inflammatory drugs and immunotherapy to regrow your hair.

Other famous people with alopecia include comedian Matt Lucas and TV presenter Gail Porter.
