Oscars: Will Smith slams Chris Rock after joking about Jada

They say no pain, no gain – and it appears Chris Rock is set to make a fortune after being punched in the face by Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.

The 57-year-old comedian received a savage slap in the face from 53-year-old actor Will when he presented the award for best documentary at last weekend’s event after making an ill-considered joke about 50-year-old Jada, who has alopecia was balding at Pinkett-Smith.

And while Hollywood is divided on whether Will – who received a gong for Best Actor and a rapturous standing ovation just minutes after his violent outburst – did the right thing, it could be Chris who ends up getting the last laugh.

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey and rival talk show host and Hollywood villain Ellen DeGeneres are reportedly fighting to secure a call with Chris in the wake of the worldwide headlining incident.

And Chris could even bag up to £2million as ticket sales for his current tour have skyrocketed and interview offers are on the way.

A source told The Sun: “Chris handled the situation with Will with such grace and composure – and it’s paying off.

“Hollywood just can’t get enough of him and while people are turning their backs on Will in droves, they’re lining up to see Chris.

“His comedy tour has now sold out months in advance and he’s added more dates thanks to increased demand.

“Chris has chosen to keep his mouth shut for now and that’s not surprising given there are big money negotiations going on behind the scenes for his initial talk.

“Oprah and Ellen have both expressed an interest in securing the first sit-down interview with Chris about the slap and the aftermath.”

The source further suggests that Chris is biding his time to get the best deal before giving his side of events.

The Oscars audience and viewers at home were shocked last Sunday when Will stormed the awards stage to punch Chris square in the face after joking that Jada, who shaved her head after her hair fell out, was a would make a good GI Jane. .

The shocked audience was even more stunned when Will returned to his seat and repeatedly aggressively yelled at Chris, “Keep my wife’s name out of your frigging mouth”.

The incident has prompted calls to strip Will of his Best Actor Oscar, which he won for his role as Richard Williams in the biopic King Richard.

Will finally apologized for his outburst, writing online: “Violence in all its forms is toxic and destructive. My behavior at the Oscars last night was unacceptable and inexcusable.

“I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I’m embarrassed and my actions were no indication of the man I want to be. In a world of love and kindness there is no place for violence.”
