Chris Rock streams on Netflix in a first for the streaming giant

Chris Rock is going where no comedian has gone before – streaming on Netflix.

The streaming giant said on Thursday that Rock will be the first artist to perform in the company’s first global live-streaming event.

The comedy special is slated to air in early 2023, but some other details have been revealed.

“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedy voices of our generation,” Robbie Praw, Netflix’s Vice President of Comedy and Monologue Formats said in a statement.

“We’re excited that the whole world can experience Chris Rock’s live comedy event and be a part of Netflix history.

“This will be an unforgettable moment and we are honored to have Chris carry this torch.”

This will be the first major test of the Netflix streaming feature, potentially opening the door for other shows to receive a live treatment.

This will be Rock’s second Netflix special. His first, Chris Rock: Tamborine, came out in February 2018. Chris Rock streams on Netflix in a first for the streaming giant
