Christine McGuinness has shared a proud mothering moment as her three children, who all have autism, are now old enough to understand and enjoy costumes for World Book Day after years of fractious and refusing to take part in the literary celebration to participate
Christine McGuinness has shared her euphoria as her three children happily dressed up for World Book Day – after years of refusing costumes.
The model is a mother to three children – eight-year-old twins Leo and Penelope and five-year-old Felicity.
All three of her children have autism, and Christine has spoken openly about the difficulties they face as a family.
Now the former Real Housewives of Cheshire star has shared her joy as her children are now old enough to accept costumes with some small invisible adjustments to ensure they feel comfortable in their chosen characters’ costume.
She wrote in her post: “My heart just smiled. This morning I have a very lucky ‘Jessie’ from Toy Story, a beautiful ‘Snow White’ and a fabulous ‘Super Mario’ for #World Book Day.
Actor and comedian Paddy’s wife opened up to followers who shared past struggles that proved to be too much for their young children, who were upset by the annual celebration of children’s literature.
She added: “I remember when my kids never dressed up because the costumes were too itchy (I still have to put soft layers underneath) but they didn’t even touch the fabric!
“And just seeing other kids in costumes would totally confuse and upset them.
“Now they understand, we are preparing and they are enjoying World Book Day.”
She signed the post with the #proudmummy.
And her followers couldn’t agree more as many acknowledge their own phases they go through with their children, especially those with autism.
Kerry Katona added three heart emojis and ex-Corrie star Helen Flanagan also shared a love heart.
One poster commented, “It’s wonderful how far they’ve come their well-done parents.”
A third added: “This is beautiful. I had the exact same moment this morning
Another chimed in: “Love this! Not quite where you are yet! But there is a promise.
A fifth added: “Fabulous my boys were the same. My youngest is still very sensitive to anything different than what he can wear. I hope you have a brilliant World Book Day
Christine accompanied the post by capturing her trio without showing their faces as she has chosen to keep them out of the public eye.
