Christmas lights switched on in The Lanes in Brighton
Shoppers in The Lanes have embraced the festive spirit after Christmas trees and lights were lit.
Decorations along Hanningtons Lane in Brighton mesmerized crowds at a special event which also included music by Sherika Sherard, mulled wine and mince pies and storytelling by drag queens.
People cheered when Skip, the Theater Royal’s mascot mouse, switched on the Christmas lights at the event earlier this week.
Abigail Keefe, owner of accessories and handbag shop Abi-K, said: “Our Christmas lights are on and we’re ready for Christmas shoppers.
“Hanningtons Lane has a wealth of independent shops and businesses perfect for those looking for unique gifts.
“We know it’s tight for many, but shopping locally at The Lanes means you have a boutique experience while also supporting local independent businesses.
“We are full of Christmas cheer, have fabulous festive windows to admire and can’t wait to see you.”
The Christmas lights throughout the rest of the city center will be switched on at an event tonight, with choirs and a brass band ringing in the holiday season.
