Ukrainian boy prays to God to ‘stop Putin’s plans’

A congregation at a Ukrainian church was filmed praying for the death of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A video shows a young boy speaking into a microphone and saying: “Stop Putin’s plans. If he has a disease, we pray the Russians don’t find a cure that can stop it. [God] be with us Amen.”

The boy, named Mikhailo, reportedly stood up in front of a large gathering of adults and children at a religious ceremony in Lutsk, north-western Ukraine.

He also prayed for the war to end, saying before mentioning Putin: “God, thank you for this day that we are alive. stop the war God be with us.”

The service was held at the Church of the Gospel in the city, and the boy wore a national shirt of Ukraine.

His mother, wearing a headscarf, stands beside him as he prays and recites Psalm 26 before offering his prayer that Putin may die of a terminal illness.

The extraordinary scene unfolds amidst tens of thousands dead on both sides from Putin’s war in Ukraine.

It comes amid rumors about Putin’s health in recent months. During a televised meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu last month, the president was seen crouching down and clutching a table tightly.

Former government intelligence official Christopher Steele told LBC radio that the Russian leader is now constantly surrounded by doctors.

Mr Steele, who headed the Russia desk at MI6 in London between 2006 and 2009, recounted LBC that the “exact details” of his condition are not yet known, but many claim he is ill.

There have been a number of claims about the Kremlin leader’s health, with some reports suggesting he has cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy and steroid treatment, among other treatments.

The latest update from the UK Ministry of Defense says Russia has sacked senior commanders believed to have performed poorly during the initial stages of its invasion of Ukraine.

It continued: “Many officials involved in the invasion of Ukraine are likely to become increasingly distracted in efforts to avoid personal blame for Russia’s operational setbacks.

“This is likely to further strain Russia’s centralized command and control model as officers increasingly seek to defer key decisions to their superiors. It will be difficult for Russia to regain the initiative under these conditions.”

Putin falsely claimed that his “military operation”, his design of the bloody war in Ukraine, was the liberation of Russian-Ukrainians in the country.

The video was captured during a two-hour church service on Sunday, April 15.
