Cian Prendergast signs new contract extension with Connacht

Cian Prendergast has signed a new long-term deal with Connacht that will see him in the provinces until at least 2025.

rendergast still had 12 months left on his current contract, but like Mike Hansen before him, he has extended it for another two years.

The flanker has cemented his position in Andy Friend’s Start 15 this season after joining the Academy in 2020.

“I am happy to sign Connacht for at least another three years. I will forever be grateful to Eric Elwood and his Academy management for giving me the opportunity to join the setup when I wasn’t sure what the future held for me,” said Prendergast.

“A big thank you also to Andy Friend and the coaches who have given me the chance to play at the highest level on a regular basis.

“We have a really good group of players here and I really believe that great things are ahead of us and I can’t wait to do my part.”

Head coach Andy Friend added: “Cian is everything you want in a rugby player. He’s a total pro and consistent in everything he does on and off the pitch. From his early days in the academy it was clear he was ready to make a difference on the pro team and he’s only gotten stronger since then.

“He’s still only 22 so it’s only getting better and it’s another vote of confidence in what we want to achieve as a group in the years to come.” Cian Prendergast signs new contract extension with Connacht
